Everybody's talkin' 'bout Billy Joel and Elton, but it's still Oriana to me!

Three rehearsals in, and already the choir’s excitement level is high, and rising. And why is this, you ask? Simply because the music that’s been chosen for this upcoming concert series, The Piano Men: The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John, is so infectious, so memorable, and so good to sing! We’re having such a good time getting these wonderful songs ready to perform for you, that you won’t be able to avoid having a great time hearing and seeing it all. You’ll feel as if every song is your song. And if you can’t feel the love, we haven’t done our job. But you will. These songs will hit you like a rocket, man.

A large part of why this season of music is so exciting is down to our music director, Elisabeth Wallis Gaedtke. She’s always a woman, with a woman’s delicate musicality. She appeals to us not to go breaking her heart, and she’s so inspiring, so energising, that we wouldn’t dream of letting the sun go down on her aspirations. Honestly, after rehearsing for the longest time, I’m still standing, ready for more. No lullaby time for this little black duck. And so it goes.

Look, you can be sure this show is going to rock. I mean like a crocodile. If you loved Oriana’s ABBA/Queen show, you’ll love this one just as much. So, if your girlfriend, or your wife, your sister, your mother, or even your uptown girl is as yet unaware that it’s happening, tell ‘em about it. They’ll thank you for it. Bennie will be there. And the Jets. And more than one piano man.
